Verizon Wireless Expands 3G Mobile Coverage in Massachusetts

Good news today to all the folks living in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

Verizon Expands Coverage in New England

Thanks to good old Verizon Wireless, soon 3G mobile coverage (including broadband data) will be as “unparalleled” as in the rest of New England.

Verizon ~~has just announced that they~~ will be heavily investing in the region due to “rising demand for wireless voice, 3G Multimedia, and Internet access”.

Among other goodies, Verizon promises to improve wireless voice and data coverage “along
Route 62 near the Acton/Concord town line, as well as surrounding area”.

Verizon Mobile Internet

Currently Verizon Wireless claims the following data speeds on their mobile broadband network:

• average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per
  second, and
• average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps

This means that one megabyte could be “downloaded in about eight seconds and uploaded in less than 13 seconds”.

Verizon currently offers a range of mobile broadband modems as well as several mobile data plans, most popular of which is undoubtedly the 5Gb plan.
